img(:title Sadly I do not look as nice on my travels,:class flRight){http://img.tymoon.eu/img//suiseiseki/Traditional/0fe58b94399357549fe7b5845dd00447.jpg} I have to say, I'm not someone who likes to travel. In fact, I don't like travelling at all, it's something I have trouble with because it isn't particularly productive in any way for me. Simply because I can't do much while I'm travelling and it usually involves many risks and complications, not to mention expenses. And that all for something that I simply cannot get excited for. I don't care about seeing other places, cities or whatnot. To me, there really isn't anything I would want to do differently in any other city. It's just another place people live and work at for me. Sightseeing is boring and not worth my time either. After all, if I really wanted to see it, I could just quickly hop onto google images and get a short impression of what it is, I don't need more than that (don't start with “but you have to see it with your own eyes!”, I don't. I just don't care).
So then, given all this negativity towards travelling, why am I planning a travel event at all?
Well, as I said, I don't care about places. I do, however, care about people. And that's what I'm making this trip for; so that I can meet some people I've wanted to meet for quite some time now. I'll be mentioning them along the way of my route.
This event starts out tomorrow, on the 12th of August. As my first step, I have to get from Zürich to Basel by train, in order to get to the German Railway. There, I'll be hopping onto another train and ride aaaaall the way until Kyllburg. Once there I'll meet Minty. I'll be staying in a hotel near her house and we'll spend a week together doing… whatever it might end up being that we're doing. This might or might not involve baking a ludicrously over-powered chocolate cake. We'll see how that goes. After that week, on Sunday the 19th, she'll take me over to Luxembourg, where I'll board my plane to London. Hoping that everything goes as planned and on time, Malakin and Mithent will be meeting me there. We'll then hop over to an apartment we rented. Aside from being useless pieces of shit all day and s{playing all these games} watching all these animes and movies, I suppose we'll also check out some of the museums in the city and… uh. I really don't know, I haven't exactly planned anything. Just being together and getting along is the most important thing for me after all, everything else is secondary. I'll probably also cook some dinner for the two sometimes, as that's one of the reasons I insisted on an apartment rather than a hotel. This will last, again, for a week. So, on the 26th, I'll be getting back to Zürich. Home sweet home! But, it doesn't quite end yet. After all, Malakin will be coming with me for yet another week. We'll mostly use this week to work on our game project and I'll be showing him my beloved city along the way. Hopefully we'll manage to get a somewhat finished game out in that one week, but we'll have to push ourselves to get that done. I just hope Malakin won't be the lazy bum he always claims he is… because otherwise he probably won't have a nice time with me. At the end of that week he'll get back to England again.
And that's all for the travel event 2012. I really really hope there won't be any major mishaps, problems or other kinds of fluctuations and irregularities in these plans. I'm not really good at planning things and neither am I at travelling or meeting people. So this is a pretty big gamble for me. Ah well, worst case we'll all end up dead in a ditch. I'm sure someone could find a positive side to that ending as well, so… nothing to lose? Yeah, let's go with that.
I'd like to mention that at the end of all this I'll immediately be starting my new job as a programmer at Planta. I'll mostly be doing team optimization work. Meaning that I'll be making programs and utilities that should make the team's work easier and allow them to progress things faster. This involves database manipulation, process automation and other work. I hope I won't overwork myself and won't screw up too badly. If all goes well, I'll be leaving the job happily again in 3/4 of a year, after which it's time to prepare myself for the ETH (university)! But yeah, there's still a long way to go until that and I'm sure I'll be posting at least some progress updates until then still.
And that's all I have to say for now. Have a nice time, everyone! img(:title Everyone on board!){http://img.tymoon.eu/img//Wallpapers/Shinmera/0089804a4b2f78a92c78335a0d714d79.jpg}
