Well, it's time to put out plans for the new year.
These plans are long term plans and can change heavily since I'm more of a guy depending on dynamic reaction to the situation at hand rather than trying to have a fixed future. Still, planning is important and it's basically just here to tell you guys what I'll be doing.
The topics needing discussion are:
[e]Tymoon and general comic schedules
[e]Pesterchum/TinyChum
[e]TyNET
[e]FruityRumpusAssholeFactory
[e]Side quests
[e]General arting
[b]Tymoon and general comic schedules
I will see about getting Tymoon on to a weekly schedule. I think I can manage this mainly because of my huge improvements in technique and style so it should be well withing my limits. I will have to cut down on my other arts projects a bit though.
Spherae needs a rewrite. Well, of the planned stuff that is. I'll probably take some day off to write the whole first chapter. A lot of things have become more clear in my mind and I think I can now create a better running plot for this thing.
Daily will continue whenever I have something to talk about which is hopefully more often. Otherwise I'll just start abusing it as a sort of talk-to-myself-about-arts thing. I'll see what happens.
[b]Pesterchum/TinyChum
This is probably what most of you people worry about since it's my most popular project from what I can guess.
The planned TC3 version has still a lot to cover. The GUI rewrite will take some time and I honestly can't give an estimated release date because I don't really know what problems I'll encounter on the way.
What's for certain though is that TC3 will take over PC. This means that TC3 will be renamed to PC3 again. It is also to be expected that I will drop support for PC2.5 and TC1.5 or earlier entirely to move the project onto one platform instead of diverging ones. I'm not certain about this step yet though as it might create a lot of whining and drama, but it would help a huge lot with compatibility and support.
I will blog about the development process here.
Armada is working on a port of TC1.5 for the android platform. I'll see about giving process updates here too about that.
[b]TyNET
TyNET V3 is planned for this summer. I will, again, completely re-write the site to get a cleaner, faster and easier site. It will focus more on the content at hand rather than the weird Web2.0 content offering it has now.
The codename is “glow” and here's an incomplete features list:
[e]Comic series → comic arcs → comic strips management as in TyNETv2
[e]A better comment system
[e]Database upgrade instead of depletion
[e]Better blogging system with tags, categories and more
[e]Dynamic pages
[e]Wiki and paste service will be removed, gallery made private
[e]Overall dynamic layout with a new style and faster site loading
[e]General site optimization
[e]Better poll system
[e]Tighter combination of services
[e]Attachment system
[e]Better security
[e]Less javascript bullshit
[e]Optimized database
[e]Advanced search function
These are only vague estimates and the change list will probably be extended a lot still.
[b]Fruity Rumpus Asshole Factory
Yeah, remember that project I started with gingerale?
It's not doing very well atm because we're both very busy and haven't even had the time to look for more members yet.
I'll have to talk to gingerale about getting stuff rolling and actually making out a few specifics of the things we had planned to get a better idea of the whole instead of just a blurry mess of nothing.
[b]Side quests
Besides all that, I'll probably work on some minor stuff like bukkit plugins for the minecraft server and perhaps some android test apps. This has low priority though.
[b]General arting
I will certainly keep up with the streamings. I'll also keep up with my constant anatomy studies but I think Imma have to take a closer look at character design and style variability very soon.
This means that I'll have to force myself to draw more different things instead of the same all the time and work on getting more defined characters with the main goal in mind to get more…
a) variability = flexibility = more natural look = awesome
b) defined / distinguishable characters = good characters = characters you can identify even next to a lot of others, even with a change of clothes and so on.
Yeah.
That's all I have to say about plans at the moment!
Just a minor complaint: It's awfully quiet on this site. I guess it's mainly my fault though because I don't advertise enough and don't produce enough content here, mainly in the comic section which is supposed to be the heart of this site.
